In a bid to block more revenue leakages, the Osun State government on Tuesday has shut down Winners Golden Chance Venture Limited, Winners Golden Bet Nigeria Limited and other business premises in Osogbo due to non-compliance and evasion of taxes.
The distrain exercise which took place this morning was led by the Acting Chairman Osun Internal Revenue Service, Alhaji Hamzat Solanke ordered the winners companies and other affected business premises be sealed.
Alhaji Solanke said the affected businesses were non-challant to their tax obligations over the years after been served series of notice from the internal revenue service as reminders to do the needful.
According to Solanke, “winners golden chance venture limited, winners golden bet Nigeria limited and others have not been truthful and upright to payment of taxes levied on their businesses for quite some time, series of notice have been given to them in order to fulfill their statutory obligations and pay to the coffers of the state government. But failed to help themselves
“their failure to respond to the agency’s invitations led the state government to sought for order from court to distrain their companies from operations, that led to the sealing of their business premises” he said.
The acting Chairman therefore advised all registered and unregistered businesses in the state to gear up to their obligations which is payment of due taxes in the coming year as this distrain order will serve as deterrent to others.
