The newly appointed Executive Chairman, Osun Internal Revenue Service (OIRS), Prince Sola Adewumi has urged the staffers of the agency to be more dedicated in discharging their official duties by shunning all acts of laziness and absenteeism.
Prince Adewumi gave the charge during a maiden cum familiarisation meeting held with the workers at the Conference Hall of the agency.
He admonished them to be more alive to their responsibilities especially in the area of boosting the revenue generation capacity of the state at all times.
Though he acknowledged and commended them for all their previous efforts in boosting the revenue of the state, he also used the opportunity to reiterate the vision and mission of the Agency geared towards generating more revenue into the coffers of Osun state government.
He further explained that the revenue generated at the end of each month will help the state government in financing most of the developmental projects the people of Osun are yearning for.
The agency head also sought for mutual support and cooperation from the members of staff in putting the agency at the forefront of all government operations.
He, however,warned them to desist from any act that may lead to revenue leakages for the state as any staff found coupable will be handed over to the police.
The new accounting officer of the agency also enjoined the staffers to make punctuality a virtue just as he frowned at lateness and absenteeism,stressing that such acts will not be condoned under his watch as the Executive Chairman of the Agency ( OIRS).
The Director, Income Tax Department, Mr. Biodun Olaitan in his remarks thanked the new Chairman for his words of encouragement. He used the opportunity to table the challenges of the agency by imploring him to particularly help work on the urgent need to get some of the casual workers employed as a full time staff of the Agency and also ensure provision of working tools to make the revenue generation easy for the staff.
At the end of the meeting,the chairman thanked all the staff for the warm reception accorded him just as he promised that all their requests will be looked into with a view to getting necessary approval from Mr. Governor, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke .
